KISUMU, Kenya, Apr 8 — The death toll from an accident in Migori town involving a tipper truck has risen to ten.

Police confirmed three more deaths in hospital after an initial single casualty raising the number of those who had succumbed to injuries in hospital to four.

Six people had died on the spot after a truck lost control and rammed into pedestrians.

Migori County Commander Mark Wanjala said the 7am accident plunged some people into River Migori and efforts to retrieve them were on going.

Eye witnesses said the driver of the truck lost control and rammed into pedestrians and boda boda riders who had parked their cycles by the roadside.

“Two people were thrown into the river, I witnessed that,” an eye witness recounted.
